Here's a great video from Terry Bell, founder of the APA. This video explains what is and is not a defensive shot. If your team is not marking defensive shots then you are not keeping score accurately.
The innings portion of the scoresheet is not subjective and should match. However, there is a subjective element to defensive shots. Mark it as you see it, the scoresheets do not have to match. While there are matches that do not have defensive shots, teams that never mark them stand out like a sore thumb, please keep your scoresheets as accurately and honestly as you can and if you have questions please post or give me a call.
Please encourage your players to inform the scorekeepers when they have attempted a defensive shot.
AND, just to let me know you are aware of the defensive shot portion of the scoresheet, please mark "NO D" or put a 0 in that portion if in your opinion there were none. That tells me you are watching for defensive shots and understand the importance of marking them.
